The menu on this page leads to a section of the website that gives a brief history of our church. The Parish Church was built in the 1400’s saving people 3 miles walk to the nearest place of worship. As the quote above illustrates, a visiting famous evangelist found the village could be a bit rowdy in the 1700’s. In 1828, a place of worship was created for dissenters (who did not wish to worship in the Anglican church). In 1876, the first Congregational church was built in the high street, but this was then replaced in 1932 by the current building in Station Road. The Congregational and Presbyterian denominations joined together, by Act of Parliament, in 1971 to become the United Reformed Church. With so many members of St Ninian’s URC joining us when it closed in 2007, we also have section covering their history from when it started as a Presbyterian Church after World War 2.

A collection of our monthly magazines and newsletters is archived on our News pages. Our Hall and vestry room can be hired at reasonable rates. Current users vary from Yoga to Beavers and Cubs. We also see many sorts of dance and dancing - Tap dance, Arden Dance School and Scottish country dancing. The timetable on the Hall Users page shows the full list of activities and when it is available. Being a Christian Church, we have many pages of information and opinion about Jesus Christ, the Bible story, and our Beliefs in this modern world.
